Course Objectives
This course provides participants with a learning tool that will help them understand mathematics as used in their daily lives. Participants are encouraged to use calculators.
During the 18 hours of this course, participants will complete exercises in the following general areas:
- addition
- subtraction
- multiplication
- division
- fractions
- percentages
In addition, participants will engage in hands-on activities in the following areas:
- solving daily problems
- balancing a check book
- understanding sales tax
- comparing prices
- finding averages
- estimating answers
- reading ads
- buying and owning a home
- buying and owning a car
- applying measurements
Materials
The contractor will provide Basic Business Math: A Life-Skills Approach by Richard P.Truchon, and a folder with supplemental handouts.
